In Kenya’s Trans-Nzoia County, where poverty and vulnerability threaten the future of countless young lives, Kwetu Nyumbani—Swahili for “Our Home”—is a beacon of hope. Since opening our doors in 2011, we have been more than just a shelter; we are a family, a school, and a pathway to independence for destitute and vulnerable children in the Kitale region.
These children have faced loss, abandonment, and the crushing weight of extreme poverty. Kwetu Nyumbani provides the stability and love required for them to simply be children again, giving them the chance to break the cycle of poverty and become successful, self-reliant adults.
